Currently, I work on the EGEE project as a CE regional coordinator. Beside this activity, I'm a member of the Grid production team of the astroparticle experiment Pierre Auger Observatory at the Institute of Physics, ASCR, and I'm an ATLAS Distributed Computing Operations shifter.
2. Why did you get in to grid?
My first Grid encounter was at the beginning of EGEE-II in 2006. Couple months later, I ran most of my Master thesis simulations on the grid. Grid is a powerful infrastructure for HEP/astroparticle/astrophysics computing ;)
3. What did you study at university?
Physics, field of study Astronomy and astrophysics, at the Charles University in Prague.
4. What did you want to be at school?
A successful student.
5. What are the highlights of your job?
To see that another piece of production is done and to see it was worth the effort we've put into it :)
6. What are the lowlights of your job?
I'm glad I can work with a bunch of wonderful people, so there are no lowlights coming to my mind.
7. What do you do when you’re not at work?
When I'm not at work, I'm either sleeping, or studying. Or I'm on a trip in nature or play paintball with my friends.
8. What are your goals for the next year?
Successfully finish the first year of my Ph.D. on the ATLAS experiment, and produce the largest air showers library.
9. Would you encourage your children to get in to grid and IT?
Yes, I would. But their own choice will be also important to me.
