1. What's your role within grid computing?
  Teaching Grid computing to PhD and master students, developing prototypes of Grid services, building a local research team specialized in Grid technologies, leading the local research, development, and management activities related to Grid computing.
 
2. Why did you get in to grid?
  Having a specialization on parallel computing and limited access to high performance computing facilities, Grid computing was a good opportunity to exploit the knowledge.
 
3. What did you study at university?
Computer Science.
 
4. What did you want to be at school?
Archeologist – in that period the IT specialist was an almost unknown job, especially in my country. As soon as I have visit a Regional Computing Center (in the years ‘80s), I have been impressed and I have decided to work with computing machines.
 
5. What are the highlights of your job?
Contacts with the young peoples (students) and raise they interest for the research and innovation activities.
 
6. What are the lowlights of your job?
Always playing catch up with yearly academic KPI's.
 
7. What do you do when you’re not at work?
Home – family activities.
 
8. What are your goals for the next year?
Escape from the management activities and concentrate more on the research activities.
 
9. Would you encourage your children to get in to grid and IT?
Yes. I have done already. My daughter is student in the second year in Computer Science and she has some basic knowledge about Grids.
 
10. What do you want to be when you grow up?
More researcher than manager.
