1. What's your role within grid computing?
I do research, administer a Grid site consisting of about 80 CPUs and
work on testing and certification of components of the gLite middleware.
2. Why did you get in to grid?
I was excited by the idea of Grid Computing and High Performance Computing
in general. It is very amazing, how many things one can do with Grid Computing
and distributed systems in general.
3. What did you study at university?
Computer science.
4. What did you want to be at school?
First of all, I never wanted to be an astronaut.
I always wanted to be a ...fisherman!
I finally became a computer scientist... some times life is so hard...
5. What are the highlights of your job?
Traveling, coping with multinational people and buggy middleware!
It is really a very challenging work, it is hard to get bored of it!
6. What are the lowlights of your job?
A computer scientist's job is not very social, we spend many “geek” hours in front of a computer. Also, keeping always up to date with IT is enjoying but can be exhausting.
7. What do you do when you’re not at work?
Fishing, (trying to) play basketball, music, internet surfing, having fun with good friends.
8. What are your goals for the next year?
Finish my Master and try to find some more free time!
9. Would you encourage your children to get in to grid and IT?
Maybe Grid Computing will not exist until then :)
but with IT... Definitely!
