More European projects: from mammograms to malaria

EGEE is the largest European grid project involving CERN, but there are many other grid projects and activities taking place around the world. For example:

- the WISDOM project is using grid computing to speed the search for a cure for malaria
- MammoGrid is building a grid for hospitals to share and analyse mammograms in an effort to improve breast cancer treatment.
- GridTalk coordinates the dissemination efforts of grid initiatives across Europe, spreading information about the benefits of grid technology to industry and society
- the MathCell project aims to create a grid-managed multi-purpose environment for further research in biology and bioinformatics (Russia)
- scientists in the P12S2 project are using grid computing to learn more about the spread of plant diseases (Italy)
