Grid-powered projects

Grid-powered projects

Grid computing is changing the way the world is doing science, as well as business, entertainment, social science and more.

EGEE is the largest European grid, but there are many other grid projects and activities taking place around the world.

You can read more about many other grid projects at GridCafe: there's international grids, volunteer computing grids, grids for specific sciences, grid businesses, grid magazines and more...

Below are a few examples, just to whet your appetite:

  • the WISDOM project is using grid computing to speed the search for a cure for malaria, a disease that effects millions of people all over the developed world.
  • MammoGrid is building a grid for hospitals to share and analyse mammograms in an effort to improve breast cancer treatment.
  • the MathCell project aims to create a grid-managed multi-purpose environment for further research in biology and bioinformatics
  • the P12S2 project are using grid computing to learn more about the spread of plant diseases

MORE! MORE! MORE!
